Yoga Awakens Us to a larger life force, to the greater vitality, that wants to live itself through us.
Yoga Class Descriptions
amrita yoga The amrita style of yoga is a form of vinyasa yoga with influences from Ayurveda, physical therapy, neuroscience, yoga philosophy and psychology, pranayama, and mindfulness. The amrita yoga style emphasizes the bio-mechanics of alignment, anatomy, kinesiology, and rehabilitative processes.
amrita yoga is taught in alignment with the rhythms of nature. Ayurveda teaches that our yoga practice should be in harmony with the changing of the seasons as well as the time of day (and your life cycle). We teach to support these natural cycles.
amrita yoga surya These dynamic classes focus on practices that energize, cleanse, promote vitality, build stamina, strength, and resilience. We include sun salutations, vinyasa (vigorous at times), standing poses, arm balances, backbends, and inversions. Students are guided in seasonally-appropriate pranayama practices. Classes will include mindfulness tools and meditation.
amrita yoga chandra This class is great for students who are new to yoga, as well as students who want to reconnect with the basics. In class, we explore beginning poses, alignment principles, and building awareness. The class pace is more reflective. Mindfulness and breathing are woven throughout the practice. Self-study and self-reflection prompts are offered.
amrita yoga surya Level 2-3 For intermediate to advanced students. Asana will include sun salutations, vinyasa, standing poses, independent inversions, arm balances, intermediate backbends, and seated poses that prepare students for meditation. Two years of consistent asana practice recommended.
amrita yoga Gentle Evening Flow This evening vinyasa practice incorporates asana and mindfulness tools, into a gently-paced, reflective Hatha flow class. Basic yoga postures and gentle stretching are balanced throughout a flowing sequence that seeks to move energy (prana) throughout the body; releasing areas of residual stagnation and tension, while preparing both mind and body for a restful nights sleep.
Adaptive Yoga A chair-based practice for students needing to maintain strength and flexibility, develop breath capacity, and cultivate the relaxation response for soothing the systems of the body. Ideal for students with Parkinson’s disease or Multiple Sclerosis. Also suitable from those recovering from injury, surgery, or whiplash.
Yoga & Strength Conditioning A combination of traditional yoga poses and conditioning exercise using exercise balls and thera-bands. Designed for specific conditioning of the stabilizing joints in the body to support rehabilitation from injury and cross-training for athletic pursuits.
Bo Yoga® Bo Yoga® blends the best of yoga, qigong and meditation using a unique prop called a Balance Bar. Bo Yoga is safe, adaptive, gentle and most effective for those over 50 or with some physical challenges. Within just a few weeks of classes, you will be able to do the things you enjoy with less pain, stress or risk. With regular practice you can expect greater strength and flexibility, more energy, a clearer mind and the confidence of knowing how to bring yourself into balance.
Aerial Yoga Foundations (Intro/Beginner): This class is a great practice for those new to Aerial Yoga or for those looking to fine tune the fundamentals. Aerial Yoga Foundations will help students build body awareness, confidence and familiarity with the aerial hammock at hip-height. Students will learn proper alignment and placement cues, with a focus on breaking down postures and transitions into detailed steps. In this class, you can expect to work on full inversions (getting upside down!). However, in comparison to Aerial Yoga All-Levels, this class moves at a slower pace with a focus on acclimating to a new type of movement and relationship to gravity. For those completely new to Aerial Yoga and/or inversions, we recommend taking this class a few times before entering an all-levels class. If you have any questions of concerns, you are encouraged to speak to the Instructor.
Aerial Yoga All-Levels: In this class, students will be led through a hip-height Aerial Yoga practice. This class is an active practice and will include at least 3 full inversions, with a posture focus for each class. A variety of variations will be included throughout the practice to accommodate students’ level and ability. All-levels is a playful practice with an emphasis on building strength and confidence with (and in) the hammock. If you are unsure if you are ready for All-Levels, feel free to consult with an Instructor. Regardless of your level or ability, you are always welcome to come and practice what you feel able to do! All-levels class is meant to be safe place where each student can grow in their own Aerial Yoga practice.
Moving into Stillness:Mindfulness is at the heart of yoga, and moving mindfully promotes awareness that supports any meditation practice. Together the skills of awareness, attention and a non-judgmental stance enrich both meditation and yoga practice bringing more presence on-and-off the mat. This 90-minute gently-paced class brings core principles of mindfulness into focus through movement (asana), breath-work (pranayama) and meditation.
Restore and Renew: This restorative practice is a luxurious way to wind down your weekend while simultaneously renewing your mind and body for the week ahead. Each class consists of 5-6 restorative poses aimed at soothing the central nervous system, relieving stress, and restoring mental clarity. Bolsters, blocks, blankets, eye-pillows, sandbags, and chairs provide the ultimate in support for your physical body as your mind settles into the Theta brain state of deep relaxation. Join us Sunday evenings and nourish yourself with the gift of self-care.
Yoga Lab Level 2: For teachers and dedicated students. This class provides a depth of philosophy, structure, + methodology. The practice of asana, pranayama, and meditation are designed for experienced students.
Yoga Lab All Levels: Focused topics waeving together philosophy, structure, and methdology; asana, mindfulness and pranayama.
