What to Expect in This Class
Each month, we will explore various meditation techniques that provide different avenues into the depths of our inner beings. For 3 weeks, we will build on the foundational meditation practices of mindfulness and yoga nidra. For one week of the month, we'll explore a “mystery meditation,” trying a new technique. Some techniques may include mantra, trataka, mindful walking, chakra, loving-kindness, gratitude, progressive muscle relaxation, ecstatic dance, visualization, affirmations, and more. Regular Monthly Schedule: Week 1: Foundational Pranayama & Mindfulness Meditation Week 2: Pranayama & Yoga Nidra Week 3: Pranayama & Mystery Meditation (this meditation practice will vary each month) Week 4: Pranayama & Mindfulness Meditation |
Pranayama and mediation are an integral part of yoga, but they are unfortunately not as frequently practiced in modern times. This class series will explore the depth and beauty of these practices, creating a foundation for you to practice on your own and potentially transform your life.
These classes are tailored to all levels, so you will find your place in this class whether you are a complete beginner or a regular practitioner. We will also explore pranayama and meditation through an Ayurvedic lens, investigating the doshas in the body and harmonizing them with their seasonal tendencies. 4-week Monthly Series MAY Focus:
Creativity and Kapha Dosha During this spring season, we will continue to balance kapha dosha with pranayama and explore kapalabhati, nadi shodhana, and ujjayi pranayama. We will also continue to build the foundations of pranayama and meditation, deepening our practice of mindfulness meditation and yoga nidra. Each class will also have a question-and-answer section in which you can get brief personalized guidance in your pranayama and meditation practice. This month’s mystery meditation is art meditation (mindful drawing). |
