Peggy Profant, E-RYT 500, is a playful, passionate and adventurous spirit who is on a lifelong path of Yoga. Her first initiation into yoga was through Kripalu, and it gratefully changed the course of her life in her formative teen years. Yoga provided balance, self discovery, and restoration throughout her academic years in college as she completed studies in Environmental Education and Dance.
With a yearning to go to the roots of yoga she travelled to India in the 1990's. There she immersed in the practice of Ashtanga yoga with BNS Iyengar, traveled and met her life partner. Teaching yoga coincided with settling down, raising a family and becoming a massage therapist in 1998. During her 2nd pregnancy Peggy met Sarahjoy Marsh and was so inspired by her teachings and the more therapeutic aspects of yoga that she eventually pursued the path to become a Certified Anusara Teacher in 2004. A stabilizing factor during her early parenting years along with yoga, was Vipassana meditation.
Currently she is a practitioner of Neelankanta meditation and studying the teachings of Kashmir Shaivism with Paul Muller Ortega. She is continuing her yoga studies with Sarahjoy once again and is currently enrolled in her 800 hour Yoga Therapy program.
In her classes, Peggy aims to bring in creative, meaningful and uplifting heart themes partnered with skillful sequencing and therapeutic alignment. She is a thoughtful and encouraging Life Coach and mentor to many students and yoga teachers in her community and world wide. It is her wish to empower her students, friends and colleagues to overcome obstacles to self love and allow each person to joyfully offer their gifts back to humanity.
Peggy has been leading Yoga Teacher Trainings since 2008 and has been partnering with Soma Yoga Institute to educate students to become teachers since 2016. She founded and operated a premier yoga studio in Arcata, Om Shala Yoga, for 10 years, and co-founded World Family Yoga leading family retreats in Costa Rica. She has been leading workshops, retreats and yoga teacher trainings since 2005.
In addition to Yoga, Peggy finds her deepest joys through being in nature, creating ceramic pottery, traveling, sharing time with family and dancing frequently with her beloved. "Love is the answer, what was the question?" John Lennon
