Core Values of the Urban Ashram

Practice
We believe that meditation, self-inquiry, and embodied practice are foundations for personal and collective transformation.

We study the teachings of yoga and dharma traditions with sincerity, curiosity, and respect for their depth and diversity.

Community
Spiritual practice flourishes in relationships. We value authentic connection, mutual support, and shared learning.

Compassionate Action
Inner practice naturally evolves to express itself as care for others and engagement with the challenges of our time.

Ecological Stewardship
We recognize the interdependence of all life and seek to live in ways that protect and regenerate the Earth.

Inclusivity
The Urban Ashram welcomes people of diverse backgrounds, identities, beliefs, and levels of experience.

Integrity
We commit to honesty, humility, accountability, and ethical conduct in our practice and leadership.

Community Guidelines

To support a safe, respectful, and meaningful shared space, we ask participants to uphold the following principles:

1. Practice Presence: Arrive with a spirit of mindfulness and openness. Allow space for quiet reflection as well as thoughtful dialogue.

2. Listen Deeply: Engage conversations with curiosity and respect. Speak from personal experience and listen without judgment.

3. Honor Confidentiality: Personal sharing within the community should be treated with care and respect for privacy.

4. Welcome Diversity: Our community includes many perspectives, identities, and life experiences. We commit to honoring this diversity.

5. Practice Non-Harm: We strive to create an environment free from discrimination, harassment, or harmful speech or behavior.

6. Share Responsibility: The health of the community depends on the participation and care of its members—helping with simple tasks, contributing ideas, and supporting one another.

7. Respect the Teachings: Approach the traditions of yoga and dharma with sincerity and respect while remaining open to thoughtful inquiry.
