Theresa Deussen first experienced yoga as a sixth grader in her elementary school gym. Though she loved it immediately, it wasn't until 2005 that she began practicing on a regular basis. She spent several years studying Iyengar yoga with Anne Adams and continues to be heavily influenced by this approach.
Theresa is particularly committed to the idea that yoga is accessible to and beneficial for anyone, at any age, in any physical condition. She is excited by the way that the use of props and adjustments, along with careful respect for our bodies' unique abilities and challenges, means that the physical and emotional benefits of yoga are truly within reach of all of us.
Health issues and emotional challenges prompted Theresa to make fundamental changes in her life two years ago, including leaving a professional job that left her no time for anything else. Her restructured life includes research consulting, gardening, writing, and, of course, yoga.
Making more space for yoga in her life has given her a sense of balance and perspective that make it easier to cope with whatever life brings.
A recent graduate of Sarahjoy Marsh's 200-hour yoga teacher training, she is excited to share with others the peace, vibrancy and connectedness she finds in yoga.
