E-RYT 500, YACEP
I teach yoga practices for joyful living. I use positive spirit and affirming messages to support journeys of growth and change. My aim is to follow joy, be inclusive, and encourage others to do the same.
I specialize in yoga nidra, meditation, mala, and hatha yoga. As a teacher I am playful, encouraging, and invite others into acceptance and joy. In all of my offerings you can expect a welcoming and inspiring space to dive inward and experience changes that make a positive difference in your life.
I have been practicing yoga since 1997 and teaching since 2006. I am an E-RYT 500 and YACEP (Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider) and have journeyed to India six times to participate in teacher training and wisdom immersion experiences. Yoga is a thread that runs through every area of my life, though it not my livelihood. Instead, I am dedicated to public service. I have worked for over twenty years in organizational development and diversity, equity, and inclusion positions within human services and higher education. My commitment to equity is evident in the way I approach yoga. I have a special interest in providing yoga that is inclusive, accessible, and welcoming through awareness of intercultural communication, cultural appropriation, power and privilege, trauma informed teaching, and other critical components of holding space for diverse groups. This interest led to a collaboration with the DAYA Foundation, Portland’s only non-profit yoga studio focused on trauma-informed, brain-sensitive teaching and social justice, at which I am a member of the teacher training team.
In my leisure time I sit at coffee shops, play outside, train for swimming and race-walking competitions, share laughs with my husband and our three parrots, and volunteer with Fearless Beauty and Yoga Behind Bars.
