I was first introduced to yoga in 1999. At that time there were not a lot of guys practicing yoga in the west but I loved it. My mind was calmer and my body felt amazing. That first year my mornings consisted of AM Yoga with Rodney Yee. I found immediate benefits from a yoga practice and in time greater benefits from yoga philosophy. In 2002, during a difficult time, I decided to lean into my yoga practice and teach. I trained with Baron Baptiste and Rolf Gates and started teaching immediately. Contraction management by day, yoga teacher by night.
I am grateful to have taught at gyms, studios, corporations, addiction centers (Hazelden Betty Ford Clinic), recovery meetings, individually and recently in Oregon’s prison system helping to train inmates to become certified yoga teachers. My favorite teachers and mentors include Baron Baptiste, Rolf Gates, Rudy Mettia, Jules Mitchell and Sarahjoy Marsh. I’m currently enrolled in the 500hr Yoga Therapy Teacher Training at DAYA with Sarahjoy.
No matter the challenges life presets my yoga practice continues to be a faithful companion and guiding light.
